Wilsonville Garden Studio
The contractor for this project suggested our ongoing work is like a jazz improvisation, starting with the character of the site and our client’s vision, each project is an ever-changing collaboration over time – evolving until it is just right. This building initially started out as a site utility building, and evolved into focal living space, removed from the primary residence.
The Garden Studio is a destination within the site. Its relationship with the natural landscape creates a unique indoor / outdoor room for forest viewing, gathering or solitary respite. The materials are tough and primary – concrete block, steel, glass and wood, reflecting the rural nature of the 60-acre site. The surrounding amenities of an outdoor fire pit, south facing lawn, and outdoor kitchen pavilion add to layered journey to the building.
