Bullseye Glass
In order to showcase and promote their internationally recognized glass products, Bullseye Glass Studio curated a design research project, exhibition and auction. Several architectural firms were selected to reconsider what a chandelier could be. Working with Sallee Humphrey and David Hyman of DECA Architecture, we collaborated with Bullseye’s research and development group to engage in the art of glass form-making for over a year.
Glass has its own alchemy and character. We sought to highlight its essential qualities by creating a series of one of the most basic curved geometric shape – a candle-like cylinder. The process to create something simple is often very complicated. For each ‘simple cylinder’ there were many steps, failures and finally success! The resulting 5’ x 12’ chandelier was incorporated into the gallery show, auction, and then purchased for display in the public lobby of The Henry, a private residential building in Portland, Oregon.
